What

What is a Health Coach?

I am asked this question more than any other! The University of North Carolina at Greensboro Health Coach Program from which I received my health coach certification defines a health coach as,

"A guide who helps patients/clients gain the knowledge, skills, tools, and self-efficacy to become active participants in their care so they may achieve their self-identified health goals."

A health coach provides a partnership, listening and collaborating with our clients to gain clarity of your values, health-related goals, vision, and sources of motivation. Together, we will take a look at where you are now and get clear on where you want to be. Health coaches are trained in the process of behavior change and we work with you to establish an achievable and sustainable plan with mutually agreed upon, clear goals and small action steps. We will help you to identify obstacles, brainstorm solutions, and identify support systems to help you achieve success. I provide a source of accountability, but also seek to empower YOU and to make you BELIEVE in your own ability to make powerful changes to improve your health.

Regardless of where you are now and no matter how small the steps, we will walk together through each step to create lasting change, better health, and more balance in your life.

What choices are you willing to make to lead a healthier, more balanced life?

Things do not change; we change.--Henry David Thoreau
